Why should I log into the Catalog first?

      • Logging in first enables you to access your account information and other services without re-entering your card number or pin.
• Click on Logout when you’re done. If you forget, the system logs out after several minutes of inactivity.

2. Q: What is my PIN?
    A:

YourPIN is a four digit number that you entered on the library card application. If you did not choose a PIN, the system defaults to the last four digits of the telephone number you entered on your application. If this does not work please call a branch. To find a branch's phone number and hours, click on the branch name listed below. After hours you can click here to send a request to Ask A Librarian include your library card numberin the form and we will send you your PIN.

Also, when logging in to the Catalog make sure to use only the digits of your library card number; omit all spaces and dashes.

     
3. Q: How do I get My Account information?
    A: After successfully logging into the Catalog use the My Account button, which is the fourth button from the left on the navigation bar, to access Review My Account, Change My Pin, Renew My Materials, Change My Address.

When finished click the Logout button, which is the third button from the left on the secondary navigation bar, to close your session and keep your account information private.


     
4. Q: Why can’t I see how many times I have renewed an item?
    A: This is a feature not currently available through the Catalog . AACPL Staff Members can provide that information at the Circulation or Information desks.

     
5. Q: What happened to Hot Titles?
    A: Unfortunately, the previous format of Hot Titles is not available through the Catalog. However, Hot Titles can be requested through the Catalog in two ways:
  1. For current best selling titles browse the Best Sellers and Recommended Reading areas on theCatalog's First Page or New Search page. To request one of these titles consult the FAQ How Do I Place Hold?
  2. For books that are that are not yet in print but are destined to be best sellers, because they are written by best selling authors, search the words HOT TITLES in the Search For area on the Catalog's First Page or New Search page. To request one of these titles consult the FAQ How Do I Place Hold?
  3. On Order items can be found by using Power Search and limiting the Type to On Order and the Year to 2005.
  4. Audiobooks can be found by using Power Search and limiting the Type to Adult Audiobook on Cassette and the Year to 2005.
     
6. Q. How do I find an item?
    A. There are two places to search for items.
  1. The Search For area, which is located on the left of the Catalog's First Page or New Search page.
    1. Use the pull down menu to determine the type of search to conduct.
    2. Type a keyword or phrase in the text box.
    3. Select the branches to search.
    4. Click the Search button.
  2. For expanded searching capabilities try the Power Search, which can be accessed through the Switch To Power Search button in the Search For area.
     
7. Q. How do I place a hold?
    A. The Hold icon is located on the Full Details page of a specific book or resource.
  1. After finding your item through a browse or search, click the Full Details button located to the left of the title.
  2. Once viewing the Full Details of an item, click the Hold icon the far right . It appears as a hand with the HOLD under it.
  3. If you are not currently logged in you will have to enter your library card number and PIN.
  4. Select the branch where you want the book delivered, and click on Place Hold.
  5. Depending on your account setup you will be notified by phone, email or US. postage when the item is available for pick up.
