Babies In Bloom
Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies (up to 24 months) for a fun-filled half-hour of stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays, all specifically designed to stimulate early infant development.
After the designated programs, caregivers and their children can stay for a lively and informative discussion of issues and concerns related to caring for newborn to five year-olds. The presentations will be hosted by Tot's Line, a County information and referral service.
Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis for all programs.
Mondays, December 1, January 5 and February 2 at 9:30 am.

Storytime -
Library storytimes are presented for children ages two to five, unless otherwise noted. Parents and caregivers must accompany two and three year-olds, while children four years and older may attend alone, providing an adult remains in the branch.
Wednesdays, January 7 through February 11 at 10 am.
Repeated on Thursdays, January 8 through February 12 at 10 am.

Turkey Day Thank Yous

Celebrating African Roots:  Stories of Africa & America
Come celebrate the richness of African American culture and history through a fun, interactive performance by acclaimed storyteller Diane Macklin. Ms. Macklin will trace folk customs and lore that have shaped American culture and society past, present and future.  Her dynamic style incorporates rhythm, language, and movement to create a unique story experience not to be missed. 
The Washington Post says Ms. Macklin “…embrace(s) the griotic traditions of African storytelling, using song, dance and interaction with the audience to weave (her) spell over young audiences, engaging their imagination.”
Ms. Macklin is the resident storyteller at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C.  She has also performed for the Colonial Williamsburg Storytelling Festival, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture and Wolf Trap’s Theatre-in-the-Woods.  She is a teaching artist with numerous organizations including Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning and the Kennedy Center’s DC Partnership Schools Program.

AARP Tax Assistance
With the tax season quickly approaching, seniors and low-income residents can look forward to help through a FREE service offered by AARP. AARP Tax-aide volunteers, who are trained by the Internal Revenue Service and the Maryland Comptroller's Office, assist taxpayers over 60 and those in low-income tax brackets file their Federal and State tax returns. AARP membership is not required.
North County residents can call Elizabeth Milley at 410-760-2289 from February 2 through April 9, between 9 am. and 5 pm. for an appointment at the North County Area Library or to ask questions during the tax season.

Internet Training One-on-One
Work individually with a librarian in a scheduled session. Learn how to access your library account, search the catalog and the Internet, navigate special electronic databases, and set up a free Yahoo! email account.
